Information: Timothy, has been Fisheries Development Officer (Post Harvest & Exports) with SPC's Nearshore Fisheries Development Section from May 2011 to June 2015.

His main role was to provide assistance to the Pacific Island Countries and
Territories in the areas of:
• seafood safety, quality & value adding,
• meeting requirements of marine export destinations,
• production of resource materials,
• inter-agency networking and cross-sectoral collaboration.

Before joining SPC, Timothy had been working for 10 years as the Coordinator for Food Safety Auditing and Certification services of Papua New Guinea (PNG) Competent Authority, the National Fisheries Authority.

He has experience in food safety systems establishment, implementation, evaluation and management, which begins from harvesting areas/vessels, transport systems, processing and export establishments. He also has experience in the establishment of Competent Authorities, market access requirements like for the EU, Australian, Japan, USA and the Asian markets. Furthermore, he has accompanied EU Food & Veterinary Officers on number of inspections and was able to respond to their queries.

Timothy has specialised skills in thermal processing of canned fish, which he has undertaken training in New Zealand, Thailand, USA and Canada. With this skill he was able to provide technical assistance to Competent Authority and fish canning industry in PNG and Solomon Island. This assistance was provided in the form of advice on regulatory compliance, establishment / validation of canning operations in compliance with international market access requirements.

Timothy has a Bachelor of Science in Food Technology and a Diploma in Management. He comes from Papua New Guinea.
